Low Income Ratepayer Assistance

The District has suspended water shutoffs during the Covid-19 pandemic to preserve water access for all customers. This is a welcome intervention, but it does not address the chronic issue of ratepayers whose income is insufficient to keep up with rising water rates. Since the District has limited ability to prevent the cost of water from increasing over time, FSLVW has advocated for a special program to help those ratepayers who are most in need of financial assistance. This recommendation was well-received by the Board and has been referred to the Budget and Finance Committee for further refinement. The committee will discuss this further at its upcoming meeting at 9:00 AM on June 2, 2020.
