Candidate Response: Bryan Largay

1.     What qualifications and experiences (e.g., education, professional background, relevant technical expertise, experience with collaborative decision making, etc.) do you bring to the SLV Water District Board of Directors?  How many hours per month do you expect to commit to this role?

I dedicated my career to water resource management. In 1998 I completed my graduate degree in Hydrologic Sciences, with a thesis on the interaction between groundwater and surface water. I have worked for 25 years in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Monterey Bay region on the waters and watersheds we all depend on, mostly for non-profits and special districts. My service includes representing the Fifth Supervisorial District on the Santa Cruz County Water Commission, serving on the board of the San Lorenzo Valley Foundation for Education, and advocating for safe routes to school along Highway 9. I am deeply connected to this community, having raised my family here and lived here for 24 years. I work about 50 hours a week for the nonprofit Land Trust of Santa Cruz County, and I have about 20 hours a month to dedicate to the water district.
